Literacy Spotlight: Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary and Background Knowledge

The following document provides a summary of important aspects of Oregon’s Early Literacy Framework: reading comprehension, vocabulary and background knowledge. It can be used to build a local vision of reading comprehension, vocabulary, background knowledge and quality early literacy instruction and to support communication and awareness building with important educational partners like teachers, administrators, school boards, families, caregivers and community groups.
