A Teaching Routine for Academic Vocabulary in Grades PreK-1

The following video provides a three-step routine for teaching new vocabulary to young children that includes several opportunities to practice using a new word in different ways. It can be used as a model for teaching vocabulary to multilingual learners. The resource is associated with evidence-based practices from two What Works Clearinghouse practice guides on teaching early literacy skills.
